Background

​

  This piece is based on two of the most popular psychoanalytic theories on self: Charles Horton Cooley's Looking Glass Self Theory and  Carl Jung's theory on self. I interpreted both of these theories to create the concept, turning these abstract representations into physical environments and a story to create a short movie.

This piece aims to take the audience through the journey of self-discovery and experience tension, apprehension, and enlightenment.

"Mirrors & Mandala"

​

Mirrors and mandalas are the most crucial part that connects my short movie with the theories that I based it on. In the movie, mirrors are representing reflective consciousness and the mandala represents the self as in Jung’s theory of self.

Style

​

Using the metaphors and symbols of the representation of self, I decided to use 3D animation. I used symbols and metaphors from the theories of self and color hierarchy to show different states of mind.
